Come with Me- Suzie Eller

For those that follow me regularly you know I’m a big fan of Suzie Eller. I’ve known her since I was 10. She was my bible teacher at church on Wednesday night and by far one of my favorite teachers;  like, in all of ever. We moved churches a couple of years later and I never really saw her again. Imagine my glee when we reconnected several years later on Facebook. I was honored to help with one of her books that was published a few years ago, and now I’m on the launch team of her newest book, “Come With Me.”

Today I want to share my thoughts with you about this ah-mazing book and I’m going to ask you to order it…because it’s THAT good, and totally worth MORE than what it’s selling for on amazon.

And I want to tell you this as quickly as I can, just in case some of you don’t read until the end. But surely there aren’t any of you that do would or ever do that, right? <insert smirked face emoji>

I’m giving away a copy of this beautiful book, all you have to do is comment below and share where you feel God is leading you or what you feel He’s leading you to say YES to. I will pick the winner randomly on Saturday, May 7 so hurry it on up!!

Ok, so lean in.

Each chapter is dedicated to one of the 12 disciples. There are 13 chapters.

Thirteen.

Did you catch that? There are only 12 disciples. So, what about the other chapter? I knew you’d ask. The last and 13th chapter is about you and me.

We are the 13th disciple.

Suzie beautifully talks about each disciple but it’s so much more than that you guys.

So.Much.More.

While Suzie was smack dab into studying Luke prior to the writing of this book her dear husband Richard was diagnosed with cancer.

My journey with the disciples was almost over. I had been traveling through Luke and the gospels for nearly a year. Jesus was as real as I had experienced him in a long time. So it was surprising that fear nearly toppled me. I closed my eyes, holding tight to the man who makes me laugh until I have to run to the bathroom. The man whose kindness and steady love is a gift to a girl once raised in brokeness. The person I love second, after Jesus.

In another chapter she talks about asking ourselves what we would do if we saw a child standing outside our door in the freezing cold, with no mittens or hat and worn shoes. Would we invite her in? Of course we would!

You didn’t stand at the door and scold her for being cold. You didn’t yell at her for not having mittens. you didn’t berate her for not wearing a hat. You didn’t demand that she tell you where her parents were or why she wasn’t at home where she belonged. Your first instinct was to bring her in from the cold.

She explains how this is compared to relationships that are in a difficult stage. Many of us leave each other out in the cold, hurting and in need, while we argue about how we got there.

This had me sobbing because I could relate so well. It was after I read this part of the book that I knew.

I knew God was calling me for something more.

And I knew I would say yes…when I all I wanted to do was say no.Whisper yes where no wants to take root. @suzanneeller Click To Tweet

Hear me when I say this:

Although it’s an amazing book…I mean AH-mazing, it’s not about the book.

It’s about a movement.

A movement of following where He leads. A movement about what happens in the process of following Jesus. Where we go isn't nearly as important as who we go with. @suzanneeller #comewithme Click To Tweet

You will absolutely LOVE Suzie if you’ve never read her books. Her writing and speaking are both so gentle yet so very strong.

She’s very real and you can easily feel that in her writing. It’s as if Jesus is speaking directly to me with this book, and I hear that from everyone I know that has read it.

Still undecided?

Download the first chapter for free here.

Like journals and doodling and stuff? Than you’ll love this.

And if you’re still not convinced, (I can’t imagine that) than at least download 13 prayers that go along with the book.

Last, if you love images and quotes as much as I do, you’ll love this!

I want to leave you with this video:

  1. Malinda G says:

Is this the correct spot to enter the giveaway for the book?! If so, my answer is that at this point I’m seeking what is next for my life. Having been in full time youth ministry for 15 years to now helping out wherever we can, I feel like I’m almost in another book all together but with the same Author. So that’s what I’m trusting…the Author. I’m just taking each day for what it is and trying to keep my spiritual eyes, ears, and heart open to His leading. So for now I’m just saying “yes” to everyday He’s giving me.

    • Shannon says:

Hi there Malinda! YES! This is where you enter- thank you for clarifying that:-). And I hear you dear sister- I think it’s a place we’ve all been in at one time or another so know that you’re aren’t alone and that HE SEES YOU and your spirit of servanthood. Saying yes to Him is the best act of servanthood there is, isn’t it??

  2. Marla says:

I love Suzie & like you have looked up to her since we were kids. Right now, I feel God is calling me to start living victoriously. These last (almost) 4 years have been the worst & I feel the Lord is asking me to put away the pain & the hurt & the sorrow & to start stepping out in faith that He has bigger & better plans for me. He is asking me to trust Him one step at time & I know He’ll lead me to a life that is full & abundant.

    • Shannon says:

Hi there beautiful Marla! I’m so glad you’re here!!!! My heart is going out to you because of the last four years of what you have gone through! My prayers are with you! You’re taking the right steps to start living victoriously at admitting your need for Him and his will!! Love you girl!!

  3. Jaime Wiebel says:

I love joining Suzie every week at here linkup. Where God is leading me is always a good question. Where He leads I am trying to go. Trying to listen and continue in writing. My grandma reminded me the other day, He just wants me to remain willing. That is where I am. A willing heart. I love that advice.

  4. Carrie says:

My sad, anguished heart is ready to follow Him… To let Him lead me, heal me and turn a chapter in my life… Only He knows…

    • Shannon says:

Hi beautiful Carrie- He does know- and He’s holding you in the palm of His hand and carrying you even when you do not feel Him. Prayers for you from this heart to yours, my friend. Much love to you!
