Oh Mid-Rise!! You had me at hello…

11

Thank you, fashion world for making fashionable denim for those of us with extra fluff around the middle! The Mid-Rise fit is perfect! I had eyed a pair of middies online a couple of weeks ago. I had them in and out of my shopping cart several times because I couldn’t decide if I wanted to spend the money. Believe me it was a real nail biter seriously, it was. Here’s what I believe: A good pair of jeans that you feel good in is WORTH EVERY PENNY ladies. I decided to bite the bullet. They landed on my doorstep yesterday. I was giddy. I wore them all evening. I really wanted to sleep in them but my husband wouldn’t let me. I know, TMI.  {Grin}

So- here’s the skinny: Middies are perfect for those of us that may or may not carry a little extra fluffiness around the middle. They give balance to the center of your body which avoids a top-heavy look. There isn’t anything more unflattering than a low-rise jean on someone with too much belly hanging over. Ladies – DO NOT DO IT. Please.  I implore you! With mid-rise jeans the front and back rise just sit perfectly. They also usually have stretch. I used to stay away from stretch until I realized that they actually lift and shape! Yes! For those of us that don’t have a “fluffy middle” they can be super flattering too, especially if you’ve got longer legs and a shorter torso.

When shopping for a really great mid-rise, make sure the front seam is at least 9″.  Don’t go too much higher though…otherwise they will squeeze in all the wrong places, thus actually drawing attention to your middle rather than drawing attention away.

Here are some mid-rise options for ya:

  2. Midrise jeans are much better for us with a little (or a lot) of junk in the trunk too! We definitely can’t pull off the low rise look, unless we want to take up a job as a plumber.

    I always go for a mid-rise too because of my love handles! Isn´t it great that we have more of choices nowadays when we go jean shopping? 😉

  7. A good pair of jeans is so worth it! I really love those Hudson ones. I also really like wearing jeans with a higher rise (just about at my belly button) when I’m wearing long, flowy shirts. That way if they float up while I’m running around, my middrift is covered!

    Hi Shannon,
    I found you on the Fashion Friday link up. So nice to see another blogger with teenagers! 🙂 I don’t know about you, but I find this whole teenager thing EXHAUSTING! But I digress! I love your post on the middie. It’s a huge relief that we’ve got something to disguise the good old muffin top, but I have to say the high rise jeans SCARE me. Having no mid-section, I’m really hoping this is a trend that stays with the teenagers. Was great finding you!
