All About the White | Mix It Up
Ah yes….WHITE. Any shade, any time
. Lovely, isn’t it? There’s nothing wrong with mixing it up! Those that know me well know that I am a rule-follower, but I have no problem disobeying the rules of fashion. But…let’s be reasonable. When mixing, it’s best to mix and match textures and tones that add dimension to your outfit. Look for pieces that have visible vertical seams and lines that add length rather than seams that lie horizontally. Stay away from summer white fabrics and opt for wool, denim and leather.
I love this sophisticated classic white ensemble. The skirt and sweater are great pieces for fall, and for the winter this white moto jacket adds some edge (and warmth). The burgundy heels? Ah yes. I’ve seen pops of burgundy show up everywhere for the fall and I’m loving it. So classy. So elegant. As for accessorizing, some outfits just really don’t need it except for maybe a dainty gold necklace like the model is wearing.
I admit it. I have a slight addiction to adding animal prints to outfits. I shall carry on my addiction above. Ok. I’m sorry but this outfit…oh my goodness. I simply love a great pair of nude, pointy toed heels. I have one pair, of which I’m honestly not very happy with. (I need to remedy that, huh?) I love taking a super casual piece (the chunky sweater) and adding a dressy element (heels). I can totally envision this outfit being worn with hair pulled up in a messy top knot. SO STINKING CUTE.
So, cute ladies whom I love so much- JUST DO IT. And remember: when picking white pieces for fall/winter, keep three words in mind: vertical and texture and fabric.
I hope you’re inspired to try white for fall AND winter this year! What do you think? Any pieces you would add? Take away? Let’s discuss!
