Fiercely His

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Joshua 1:9- God is building up a generation of women who know how to fight. Fiercely His.

Let’s face it. We’re living in a time like no other. I see so many standing strong in their faith and rising up in this dark and callous world. It ignites a passion within me to join in and not sit on the sidelines. Only problem is, there is someone out there who hates you and who hates me.

We have a stalker.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

You see that? He’s creeping and stalking us. He’s waiting for just the right moment to pounce.

This is why we have to be alert. We have to flip with switch on Satan. We have to get up, for when we are down we can’t be alert, don’t you see?

In Lisa Bevere’s book, Lioness Arising; she says this:

“The lioness rises from her slumber, a magnificent image of strength, passion, and beauty. Her mere presence commands the landscape, protects her young, and empowers the lion. In groups, lionesses become a creative and strategic force to be reckoned with, acting as one to change the world around them.

You too are a lioness.

Women, it’s time to…
God did not save you to tame you.
to a life of fierce passion.
To dangerous prayer, stunning power, and teamed purpose.
Your response could very well change your world.”

I read Lisa’s book several years ago and it resonated with my soul so much and God began igniting a passion within me to encourage and inspire other women.

We have two choices. We can either lay down and give up or we can get up and say NO to Satan and his evil tactics! He’s real and he’s out to destroy us!

We have two choices:either lay down or get up and fight. #fierclyHis Click To Tweet

You can’t have me!
You can’t have my family!
You can’t have my joy!
You can’t have my peace!
You can’t have______!

When I was going through the hardest time in my life I had to learn to rely on God otherwise I wouldn’t have made it. I had to fight to know Him. I had to fight to save my marriage and my family. I distinctly remember wanting to just give up. I would lay in bed and drown myself in sorrow. I’m so thankful for my mom. One day she said to me, “Shannon you need to get up. You need to get up and take care of your kids.” A flip switched inside of me that day. I realized that I could either lay there and drown myself which would indirectly result in hurting my girls, or I could get up. Get up and fight.

So that’s what I did. I partnered with God. I started reading scripture. I started dissecting each word and each promise. I wrote scripture on sticky notes and placed them on my bathroom mirror.

We are called to be strong and courageous.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will go with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Fiercely His. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Joshua 1:9

There are several women in the Bible whose stories I simply adore.

“All the king’s officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned the king has but one law: that they be put to death unless the king extends the gold scepter to them and spares their lives. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king.” Esther 4:11

She fought for her people. She fought for them so much that she risked her own life. She boldly went before the King without being summoned. She did this knowing that he might kill her yet she did it anyway. She did it because she was a fighter. She was a fighter and it ultimately saved her people from death.

Esther was a fighter.

Otherwise, as surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, who has kept me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, not one male belonging to Nabal would have been left alive by daybreak.” 1 Samuel 25:34

Abigail was the wife of a wicked man named Nabal. David had made plans to fight Nabal and when Abigail heard about it she packed food with her and went to find David and beg that he spare her family’s life. When she found him she immediately bowed down before him in ultimate humility. David was shocked. His anger turned to compassion. There are so many things we can learn from Abigail. She wasn’t proud. She was humble. Yet she was so strong. Her husband was a jerk. She didn’t have to do anything but she did because she loved her family.

What happened? David spared her family’s life.

Abigail was a fighter.

The woman with an issue of blood

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. Luke 8:43-44

Can I camp right here just a minute? I love this lady! I don’t know why we don’t know her name because she certainly was a somebody! I can’t imagine what she went through. She suffered with a disease that made her bleed for 12 years. She was anemic and weak. Not to mention, she was ceremonially unclean so because of her illness, everyone she touched would be unclean too, which is why she couldn’t be in public.

Can you imagine? Put yourself in her shoes! How do you feel?

She knew that Jesus was coming so she decided to get up. She got up and went out to where he was. She just wanted to touch him. She touched the hem of His garment. For that one moment in time God had sent his son for her. And she was healed with just one touch.

This woman was a fighter.

There are so many more examples of strong women in the bible..but I just really love these three. Maybe because I can relate to each one of them, I don’t know.

Can’t you relate?

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous because I am with you! Fiercely His

So, I have this dream.

I want to build a community of women who fight. Women who don’t back down. Women who go through hard times but that KNOW HOW TO FIGHT. Women who aren’t afraid to pursue their God-given gifts.

For the month of July I am showcasing several different women who are fighters. Some of them I know well, some of them I have just met. They all have one thing in common- they know how to fight.

Simply put, they are amazing women of God who are fiercely His…very, very

Fiercely His.

And I am completely honored and in awe that they agreed to write for my blog.

What an exciting series, Shannon! I can feel the Lord calling us to rise up – and to be fierce in the face of all adversity, all fear, all things that the enemy sends to destroy us. With the Lord on our side, whom shall we fear!? Nothing – and no one! WE ARE WONDERFULLY, AND FIERCELY HIS!

Such good news to find you on Pinterest. Can’t wait to read your blog on the women warriors. Also, if you are wanting to grow as prayer warrior, I highly recommend ‘Moving Mountains ‘ by John Eldredge. My small group is studying it this summer. We have learned SO MUCH about prayer. All of our lives have been changed forever.
